Main intakes
| Intake | Who it suits |
|---|---|
| September / October | The main intake for bachelor’s and master’s courses. All courses and the widest scholarship choice. |
| January / February | A smaller intake that many universities offer for popular master’s degrees. |
| May | Offered by a few universities for selected courses. |
Application deadlines
- Bachelor’s degrees are applied for through UCAS. The main deadline for equal consideration is in January for September entry, while medicine, dentistry, veterinary science and Oxford and Cambridge close in October. International students can often still apply after the main deadline, but places and scholarships may be gone.
- Master’s degrees are applied for directly to each university, usually on a rolling basis. Apply early, because popular courses close when full.
Timeline for September entry
- October to December (one year ahead): choose courses, take the English test.
- January to April: apply and receive offers.
- April to June: accept an offer and pay the deposit; meet conditions.
- June to August: CAS, TB test, funds, visa application, accommodation.
Apply for the visa as early as the rules allow, because arriving late can cost you the course start.
Check before you rely on it. Deadlines differ for every course, and the visa can be applied for only within a set window before the start date. Rules, fees and dates are changed by governments often.
