Tuition fees (per year, approximate)
| Level | Typical range (GBP) |
|---|---|
| Foundation / pathway year | 10,000 – 17,000 |
| Bachelor’s degree | 14,000 – 30,000 |
| Master’s (one year) | 14,000 – 32,000 |
| MBA | 20,000 – 60,000 or more |
Laboratory, clinical and top-ranked courses are at the higher end. Master’s degrees are mostly one year, which cuts the total cost compared with two-year courses elsewhere.
Living costs for the visa
For a course of nine months or longer the Home Office asks you to show money for up to nine months of living costs:
- London: £1,529 a month for applications made before 30 November 2026. The figure rises to £1,570 for applications from that date.
- Outside London: £1,171 a month, rising to £1,203 from 30 November 2026.
The amount depends on the date of your application, not the date the course starts. Dependants, where they are allowed, need extra funds.
Other costs
- Visa fee and the Immigration Health Surcharge, which is charged for each year of the visa.
- TB test, English test and flights.
- Rent: a room in a shared house commonly costs £450–£800 a month outside London and £800–£1,300 in London.

Check before you rely on it. Fees and the maintenance amounts are set by the Home Office, and tuition by each university. Rules, fees and dates are changed by governments often.
