Main intakes
| Intake | Start | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|
| Semester 1 | February / March | The biggest intake. All courses are open and the choice of universities is widest. |
| Semester 2 | July | Popular for master’s degrees and for students who finish +2 or a bachelor’s in the spring. |
| Trimester or term starts | May, September, October, November | Some universities and most colleges and vocational providers. |
Working back from the intake
- 6–8 months before: shortlist courses, book the English test, collect transcripts.
- 4–6 months before: submit applications and scholarship forms.
- 3–4 months before: accept the offer, pay the deposit, receive the CoE, buy OSHC.
- 2–3 months before: lodge the visa with financial and Genuine Student documents.
- 1 month before: accommodation, flights and the pre-departure briefing.
Because universities now cap new enrolments, the most popular courses can close early. Do not wait for the last day.
Check before you rely on it. Start dates and application windows are different for every university. Rules, fees and dates are changed by governments often.
